Become a Monthly Coach

For qualified, insured coaches

We're looking for qualified coaches who understand what it actually takes to prepare for a race and can stay involved as an athlete's training unfolds, week after week.

What is Monthly Coaching?

A monthly coach takes on a roster of athletes, builds each of them a personalised training plan, and stays involved as their training, life, and race approach change. It's an ongoing relationship, not a one-off delivery.

We work with qualified, insured coaches. What matters beyond that is that you understand the demands of the races your athletes are training for and can make good judgment calls on their behalf, week after week.

You set your own capacity and your own price per athlete. Each plan is built from scratch around that athlete's fitness, goals, and life, and you adjust it as things change rather than handing it over once and moving on. Your own plans become personal templates over time, so you get quicker as your roster grows.

What Monthly Coaches Actually Do

You will:

  • +Take on athletes up to a capacity you choose yourself
  • +Build each plan around one athlete rather than a fixed format, from scratch at first
  • +Set your own price per athlete
  • +Adjust plans as training progresses, life changes, or race day approaches
  • +Save your own plans as personal templates, so you get quicker as your roster grows
  • +Support athletes through setbacks, questions, and decisions along the way
  • +Draw on both your coaching methodology and your own race experience

You are not expected to:

  • xTake on more athletes than the capacity you set
  • xBe available outside the check-in rhythm you agree with each athlete
  • xCoach races or distances outside what you are comfortable with
  • xProvide medical or physiotherapy advice
  • xGuarantee a specific result on race day

Why this role exists

01

Some athletes need more than a plan

A one-off plan works well for athletes who just need a strong starting point. Others want someone in their corner as training unfolds, adjusting the plan as life and fitness change.

02

Race-specific knowledge matters as much as method

The best coaching comes from people who know the race, not just the distance. Alongside your qualifications, we look for real insight into the events your athletes are training for.

03

You set the pace

You choose how many athletes to take on and what to charge, starting small and growing your roster as you have capacity for it. Nobody assigns you a quota.

Why Your Experience Matters

Your coaching qualifications, your years working with other athletes, and your own racing all feed the same thing: judgment that shapes better decisions than a static plan ever could, especially when training doesn't go to plan.

Most first-time racers underestimate how much fatigue accumulates and how much life gets in the way of a perfect training block. Staying close enough to notice that and adjust for it is what separates ongoing coaching from a plan someone downloads once.

These are the kinds of judgment calls that go into coaching an athlete over months rather than handing over a single document:

  • -When to push and when to back off
  • -How to rebuild a plan after an illness, injury, or missed block
  • -How to build a realistic plan around someone's real life as it changes
  • -What matters most in the final weeks before a race
